MY FIRST SMALL BUSINESS FAILED

My first small business failed and it was all my fault.

Yep. In 2016 I started a dropshipping business selling travel & nature inspired tshirts/leggings. It sounds fun but in reality I was not that into it.

I knew I wanted to be my own boss and drop shipping felt the safest, because you don’t have to put in much money up front to get going.

Here’s why I failed though..I really didn’t have a “passion for fashion”, I wasn’t really into my product. I tried to find something that encompassed everything I loved: traveling, nature, designing but the bottom line was that selling products wasn’t my thing.

Around the same time I was working for an IG cosmetics brand and learning a lot about social media. I convinced my boss at the time to let me work remotely after a while and she agreed. I LOVED this but it felt unstable in this particular situation. I wasn’t ready to go all in and I didn’t understand how to find more clients yet.

Fast forward to 2022. I feel like I’ve figured out all my bugs and am finally confident in my skills and with my path.

I guess the point of this post is to say that success requires complete commitment. Failure truly does make you stronger. If you’re a struggling small business owner, you’ve got this. And if you don’t got this, that’s ok too! This one failure might put you onto the path that was actually meant for you!
